Throwback Thursday and Double Bean Burgers

Dear Darla, I hate your stinking guts. You make me vomit. You're scummmm between my toes! Love, Alfalfa (source) I watched this movie at least 10 billion times growing up. My brother and I were a little obsessed. All I wanted in life was my own derby car, preferably just like The Blur, and an awesome club house where I could hang out with other She-Women Men Haters (as opposed to He-Man Women Haters of course). I watched this movie twice in recent memory. Is that sad? I'm 25 years-old. Once was Read more [...]

Throwback Thursday and Strawberry Peach Lemonade Smoothie

Giga Pets. A 5th grade obsession of mine. (source) Sorry for the low quality picture choice, but I had to. Because you see, that is the exact giga pet I owned - the Dino Pet, in that exact color. When I saw it on Google Images it was like I traveled back in time and Mr. Sullivan was yelling at me in social studies class because I wasn't paying attention because my dinosaur was sick that week and I needed to make sure he was getting enough sleep and good food. #runonsentence Omg. I miss him. (My Read more [...]

Throwback Thursday and Honey Goat Cheese Fruit Dip

BUG JUICE. Doesn't come in a jar! Bug Juice comes from who you are! (source) Classic Disney Channel reality television, before reality television was your only option. I thought of this show today because it's a scortchah in New England, which means summer, which means summer camp, which means BUG JUICE: my favorite summer TV show of all time. I definitely just watched the first 10 minutes of Episode 1 on Youtube. I love the internet. I was dying to go to summer camp as a kid, but I was never able Read more [...]

Throwback Thursday

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. In one of my all-time favorite movies. First of all, let me just say that whichever twin was your favorite growing up says A LOT about you. I was 110% a Mary-Kate kind of girl. Obviously. As a pseudo grown-up, I have a touch more Ashley in me...but I will always be a Mary-Kate at heart. I was obsessed with this movie in the 3rd grade. We rented it on VHS from Blockbuster, and since we only had it for a few days, I did something slightly dishonest. I faked an illness Read more [...]

Throwback Thursday

One of my favorite childhood activities of all time: building forts. (source) I hope you know what I'm talking about. A minimum of about 6 blankets, strewn across your room haphazardly to create the perfect location for secret society meetings or some other important business. I'm not sure whether this technically qualifies as a "throwback" to the 90's, but I can tell you this. When my niece and nephew want to build a fort these days, they have no idea what they're doing. They enlist help from grown-ups. Read more [...]
