Crockpot Virgin

First and foremost, thank you guys so much for all of your sweet, supportive comments on Friday’s post. While I am completely at peace and happy with my decision no matter what friends and family think, I have to admit I felt even more certain that I made the right choice after reading all of your encouraging comments. You guys are the best! :)

In typical Monday morning fashion, I figured I’d do a brief recap of my weekend, which was pretty low-key (I loved it!).

Friday night

Matt and I had planned to go out with friends on Friday night, but when people started backing out at the last minute, we decided we were equally fine with staying in, pouring a couple drinks, and playing games. Any man that will challenge me to a Friends trivia game is a winner in my book.

(P.S. I won! :) )

Saturday

We slept in on Saturday morning, and woke up for some breakfast. Matt wanted leftover pizza (typical man haha) but I didn’t think that’d go too well with coffee. Plus I had a craving for oatmeal, so I went with that instead.

IMG_3076

We were lazy for a couple hours, then Matt had to leave and get his house ready for a party that night. After he left I decided to get a workout in, and completed the Strength 8 workout from Body Revolution. It was a tough one, and I am definitely feeling sore today because of it!

After I showered up and got ready, I needed to take advantage of the sale on active wear at Old Navy. It’s been all over the blog world, and I gotta say, great strategy Old Navy! Giving $50 gift cards to some major bloggers in return for a post… well played. I definitely spent a little more than 50 myself!

IMG_3077

The selection was fantastic, they still had tons of inventory, so I’m hoping prices might go even lower after another month or so. I was in desperate need of some long sleeved workout tops, so I got three of those, some capri workout pants, and a short sleeve top (for only $5).

IMG_3079

Oh and, an adorable necklace that was only $3! Impulse shopping, yes please.

I had plans to grab sushi for dinner with some friends that night, so I walked home (living within walking distance of the mall is amazing btw) and got ready for dinner.

IMG_3080

Oh sushi, how I adore thee.

Sunday

I slept in on Sunday morning again (I love sleeping in!), then had some coffee and breakfast. Once the caffeine hit me, I was ready to get a run in with my new workout gear. I also needed to try out my new iPhone armband I got for Christmas.

run

I absolutely loved the long sleeve workout top from Old Navy. It was about 50 degrees when I went for my run, and I was nice and toasty the whole time with this top. It was great! I also really loved this armband, it sticks well and doesn’t jiggle around too much while you run. The only thing I didn’t like is that there’s no hole to plug my headphones in. I might be putting it in wrong for all I know, but I just slid the headphones underneath and it worked fine. I can’t run without music!

My run was just okay. My knee started bothering me a little towards the end, and I am more than ready for my new running shoes to come in. Hopefully in the next couple days!

After my run (a little more than 3 miles) my muscles were tight and I really needed to stretch. Someone made that a bit more difficult though…

IMG_3088

Imagine touching my toes with one hand, and giving a belly rub with the other haha. Oh Logan!

Next on my to-do list was a little grocery shopping to pick up some ingredients for a recipe I wanted to try.

IMG_3093

I also needed a family size box of cocoa pebbles. Because I’m 5 years-old.

The new recipe I’m trying out is a crockpot recipe. My first one ever, I’m a little nervous! I’m planning on throwing everything into the crockpot before work on Monday morning, and coming home to a delicious smelling home cooked meal. To lessen my work in the morning, I pre-chopped all the veggies and browned the meat.

My new vegetable peeler I got for Christmas is the bomb dot com. Seriously made my life a bajillion times easier.

After prepping dinner it was time to get ready for the Pats game! I’m heading over to Matt’s to watch the game with some friends, but I can’t go empty handed…

IMG_3099

So I whipped up some spinach and artichoke dip to take with me. I love this stuff, I hope everyone else likes it too.

I’m off to go watch this game, go Pats!

Questions: How was your weekend? What’s one food item you still occasionally buy from your childhood? Mine = cocoa pebbles!

Awesome! Can’t wait to see how yours turns out! I’m secretly nervous about leaving it unmonitored all day, but my roommate is stopping in around lunch and promised she’d let me know if the house was on fire haha!

WHAT?! They have a friend’s board game? How did I not know this!! And I was thinking about the old navy thing on my run yesterday. I definitely fell into the trap and I’m sure we aren’t the only ones. That was some seriously genius marketing.

Haha they have a board game for everything! This one is surprisingly difficult, there’s some really specific questions that had us stumped, but overall it was super fun. And yes, Old Navy sucked us both in, but I’m glad they did! I needed some new stuff anyway..and it was nice to find out about their sale!

Ohmygosh, the Old Navy active wear looks great – and it’s so reasonably priced! (Overpriced active wear drives me nuts, so the fact that Old Navy has jumped on the active wear bandwagon makes me incredibly happy.) And I, too, have had my share of crock pot fails – but when you get a crock pot meal right, it’s amaaaaazing. :)

I can’t stand overpriced stuff either! Target and TJ Maxx have always been my go-tos for good workout gear, but now I’m adding Old Navy to the list! Loved their stuff, great for running in the winter. I’m really hoping I got this crockpot meal right! Either way I’ll be eating it since I won’t want to waste all that food. I’m sure it’ll be delicious though. :)

I love Coco Pebbles! I don’t remember the last time I bought cereal but I’d definitely say cookies are the big thing that I love to get at the grocery store. I love those milano cookies and they always bring me back to my childhood :) Glad you had a great weekend!

Old Navy from head to toe is where it’s at! The pants and top I wore cost $30 total together, which is a steal for long sleeve, moisture wicking and compression technology. I want to go back for more now! I have a sports bra obsession and definitelyyy don’t need any more of those, but more tops maybe :) haha

I used to be obsessed with animal crackers! I need to find a GF version that holds up to the originals…they were a childhood favorite and also a college favorite if I’m being honest haha. You’re never too old for animal crackers!

I’m seriously in love with my crockpot – it’s the most useful kitchen tool I have right now. I might nead to figure out where the closest ON is, I’m in desperate need of a workout wardrobe update. (and yes, that was a clever campaign on their part)!

A seriously clever campaign on their part, I wouldn’t have paid attention or noticed how great their stuff was without the blogging world! And I’m way excited about my first crockpot experience. I can’t wait to come home after a long work day to a nice home cooked meal!

Oh I remember the days of eating leftover pizza for breakfast. I can’t remember if it went well with coffee or not, but I do remember it being pretty tasty. Still, you can never go wrong with oatmeal :D And good luck with your slow cooker recipe! I’ve never used one before either, but I’m picking one up this week and can’t wait to play around with it.

Leftover pizza is the best..I didn’t have it for breakfast, but I definitely had it for lunch instead. So good! And I can’t wait to see what you come up with for your slow cooker! I’m sure it’ll be great, I can’t wait to try my dinner tonight!

Definitely own that friends game! But no one will play with me because I own every season and can quote the first episode with my eyes closed! Animal crackers remind me of my childhood, but I don’t but them anymore because they have gluten – it makes me really sad!

No one would ever play with me either! I was seriously so excited when the bf agreed to play. I was like really? You’ll play? I didn’t even believe him at first! haha…and I was just talking with another reader about animal crackers today! I miss them too, but sadly I need to avoid gluten for the most part too so I haven’t had them in forever :(

How could you root against the Texans?!

Actually, I don’t really follow football, but living in Houston, it’s hard not to get swept up into the post-season. ;) Good game though! And I hope you’re enjoying the rewards of your crockpot labor tonight.

Haha aw, I’m sorry! It was a good game, the Texans almost came back in the 4th quarter! I definitely enjoyed the rewards of my crockpot non-labor tonight. Couldn’t have been easier, and it was so delicious!

The blogosphere exploded with the Old Navy gear this week! Well played indeed. :) Let us know how the crock pot meal turns out; it’s so easy to do, right? I need to fire mine up again soon. :)

Old Navy definitely played their cards right ;) ! Is it terrible that even though I know that Pop Tarts contain HFCS, the mere sight of them still makes me drool- especially as they seem to be introducing better flavors with time (hello choc chip cookie dough)!!
