Pool Volleyball, Zip Lining, and Wakeboarding: SUMMER

Happy Friday!

I’m sure many of you decided to take the whole week off for the 4th of July (smart people), but I unfortunately decided to work this Friday. Dumb idea. Staycation 2012 is officially over.

BUT. It ended with a bang. I had such a blast the past couple days! I woke up on Wednesday morning, took a quick shower, and drove down to Connecticut for a 4th of July cookout with Andrea. It was at her friend Jenny’s house, and is a tradition they do every year. I can see why, because check this out:

They have an epic volleyball net that was literally custom built for their pool!

You better believe things got real serious, real fast on the pool volleyball court. We’re all way too competitive!

There was also delicious homemade sangria, and plenty of burgers and hotdogs to go around. A perfect 4th of July.

After a little too much sunshine and way too much sangria, everyone slept at Jenny’s house Wednesday night. Then we woke up on Thursday to pack for a day at Brownstone Park. This park is so incredibly unique. It’s basically an enormous quarry that they’ve transformed into an adventure water park with activities such as zip lining, wakeboarding, kayaking, cliff jumping, etc.!

That’s where the cliff jumping was. There’s also a giant slide!

And they had THE BLOB. It’s been a childhood dream of mine to jump off the blob ever since I saw it in Heavyweights (excellent movie). My experience unfortunately was anti-climactic. I was the last in my group to go….and the next stranger in line was a 6 year-old little girl. I basically just rolled off the edge. Oh well, I still did it!

It was also my first time zip lining and wakeboarding, I had an absolute blast doing both! I surprised myself by getting up on the wakeboard right away, my first try! So much fun.

Summer is off to a great start. I love making the most of it and trying to squeeze in as much fun as possible. The past couple days were definitely a highlight, so was the Warrior Dash and the Urban Race.

There’s still so much more to look forward to! If only summer could last forever…
