Triathlon Training: I Bought a Bike!

I’m so excited, I made a major step in my triathlon goal and bought a bike! But first, let’s keep things sequential and start with my workout of the day.

Work it Out

I woke up this morning and headed to the gym right away to squeeze a workout in. It was another beautiful day and I wanted to go outlet shopping with friends and make the most of it. I started with 30 minutes of cardio on the bike, then went to my new favorite spot (an empty yoga studio) to get a strength workout in.

I’m doing the 30 day ab challenge during the month of July, through Run to the Finish. Holy crap is it challenging! I originally thought it would push me to try a few new ab strength moves, and would add a quick 5-10 minutes to my workout. Today’s ab challenge was a workout all its own pretty much! It took me about 20 minutes to finish. Each move (there are 3) has 20 reps, and you do 4 rounds total. I could barely get through the pike crunches…20 reps is a lot for me! I have trouble keeping my legs straight (if anyone clicked to watch the video, I most certainly did not use a dumbbell for that first move…maybe someday!).

I’m really glad I decided to do the challenge, I think it will push me to my limits and help strengthen my core. I mean, it’s Day 2 and I’m already feeling challenged! Check out Run to the Finish and sign up, it’s not too late!

I had planned on doing a short leg strength circuit workout after the Ab Challenge, but I’d already been at the gym for nearly an hour and decided against it. Gotta make the most of my staycation!

Making Moves

BIG news today in my triathlon training progress! I bought a bike!!

Doesn’t our beer pong table make a lovely background?

Anyway, I’m super excited. I bought it on craigslist from a boy who used it to train for an Olympic triathlon. There was one minor dent that I noticed, which I used to negotiate the price down. I just need to buy some pedals for it, adjust it to my height, then I’ll be ready to try it out on the Rhode Island bike path (less than 1/2 mile from my apartment). I’m so excited!

Shopping

Before meeting the guy to pick up my new bike, me and Amanda did some serious damage shopping at the Wrentham outlets.

I left with 5 tank tops, a pair of shorts, a pair of jeans, three dresses, a belt, and two pairs of running shorts. The 4th of July sales were in full swing, and I hadn’t been shopping in forever (triathlon shopping aside), so I was in the mood to spend some money!

Now it’s time for me to get ready for a sushi dinner tonight. So many cute clothes to choose from! Talk to you guys tomorrow!

P.S. My 90 degree kitchen (on the reg) has prevented me from trying many new recipes lately. I have a few no-bake ones I’m dying to try though (ingredients have been purchased) I just need to find the time to make them. Stay tuned!

Hope everyone else is enjoying their 4th of July week!

What a wonderful day you had!! I love/hate when I buy new clothes if I have something planned that evening. It’s always so hard to decide which new cute outfit or accessories to wear!! I swear guys don’t realize how easy they have it in this world :)
