Giga Pets. A 5th grade obsession of mine.
(source)
Sorry for the low quality picture choice, but I had to. Because you see, that is the exact giga pet I owned – the Dino Pet, in that exact color. When I saw it on Google Images it was like I traveled back in time and Mr. Sullivan was yelling at me in social studies class because I wasn’t paying attention because my dinosaur was sick that week and I needed to make sure he was getting enough sleep and good food. #runonsentence
Omg. I miss him. (My giga pet, not my teacher, in case that was confusing).
Soon giga pets were outlawed in my middle school thanks to kids like me. You couldn’t keep them in your trapper keeper or Lisa Frank pencil case anymore. It was tragic, who would take care of Diney all day long?
I’m not sure what happened to my dear friend, but I can only assume that his battery died. Those replacement batteries were damn near impossible to find so I probably consoled myself with a new giga pet that could never live up to Diney.
Work it Out
I made plans with Andrea to use our Groupons for Bikram Yoga after work today, but unfortunately she backed out at the last minute. No matter, I got a good workout in anyway!
I was in the mood for a quick and dirty workout, and let me tell you, this did not disappoint! The treadmill portion is slightly modified from this pbfingers workout. The most difficult part is the 30 second recovery period, it flies by! You’re basically sprinting the entire 10 minutes. For the elliptical portion, I decided to keep up with the HIIT theme (high impact interval training) with 45 seconds at a high resistance, and a 15 second recovery period. It was not easy!
After cardio, I drove home and did Week 4 of Ripped in 30. I’ve really been improving with this workout. I can pretty much do the entire thing without shouting obscenities or crying out in pain. I love/hate Jillian Michaels. She’s always telling me that “I’m not gonna die.” I used to scream back YES I AM. But now I’m just like wow, she’s right. It hurts like hell but it’s not gonna kill me. Just 5 more seconds.
After my workout, I ate some dinner and then was craving something summery, sweet and delicious. To me, nothing screams summer more than a fruit + lemonade smoothie!
Strawberry Peach Lemonade Smoothie
Serves 1.
1 cup of frozen fruit (I used a strawberry, peach, and banana mix)
1/2 cup of non-fat yogurt (I used Dannon Light N Fit)
1/4 cup of lemonade
1/4 cup of water*
*you could use more lemonade, I watered mine down a bit.
Instructions:
Toss ingredients into a blender. Pulse and liquefy until fully combined.
Nutrition:
This smoothie was practically begging me to pour lots of a respectable amount of rum and/or vodka into it. But I was home alone on a Wednesday night and that just felt sad, so I resisted. I’m keeping this in mind though for the next time I whip up some cocktails!
Now I’m off to catch up with Teen Mom. Bentley is the cutest little boy on the planet, and I can’t wait to see what happens when Maci meets Ryan’s new girlfriend.
Maci and Ryan forever <3
Questions of the Day
Any other unabashed Teen Mom fans out there?
Did anyone else become completely obsessed with caring for their giga pet as a child?

OMG GIGA PETS were probably my biggest obsession when I was much younger!!
The smoothie sounds great!
Haha weren’t they the best?! And thanks! It was delicious and I can’t wait to turn it into a cocktail!
